Homoeopathic Management of Bronchial Asthma: A Literature Review

Dr.Smita Singh
4/4/2026
pp. 49-52

Bronchial asthma is a chronic, heterogeneous respiratory disorder characterized by airway inflammation, hyper-responsiveness, and variable airflow limitation. It remains a significant global health burden, affecting both adults and children, with prevalence steadily increasing over decades. Conventional management relies on bronchodilators, corticosteroids, and oxygen therapy, yet long-term control remains challenging. Homoeopathy approaches asthma by addressing both exciting and fundamental causes, often linked to chronic miasmatic backgrounds such as psoric and sycotic origins. Individualized homoeopathic remedies—including Arsenicum album, Blatta americana, Ipecacuanha, and Kali carbonicum—are prescribed based on susceptibility, clinical presentation, and underlying predisposition. While research evidence is limited, observational studies suggest potential benefits of homoeopathy in reducing exacerbations and improving quality of life. This review highlights the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, conventional treatment, and homoeopathic perspectives on asthma management, emphasizing the need for further clinical trials to establish efficacy and integration into holistic care.

HOMEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT IN CASES OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA

Dr. Kinjal Mehta and Dr. Ajay Valke
4/2/2026
pp. 42-49

Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways characterized by recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness and coughing, often linked to airway hyperresponsiveness and variable airflow obstruction. This article reviews asthma’s epidemiology, risk factors, clinical features, diagnostic methods, and classification based on severity. It highlights key management strategies including pharmacological treatment, trigger avoidance, and patient self-care, aligned with GINA guidelines. The role of Homoeopathy in individualized and miasmatic management is also discussed, offering a holistic approach to care.
