Abstract
Dental caries is a prevalent chronic condition globally, impacting individuals of
all ages, with children being particularly susceptible. It arises from bacterial fermentation of
dietary sugars, leading to acid production that gradually erodes tooth enamel, dentin, and
cementum, eventually causing cavities and tooth decay. The prevalence of dental caries varies
across countries due to differences in oral healthcare programs, lifestyles, and socioeconomic
status. Dental caries not only affects oral health but also poses significant challenges to overall
well-being, including difficulties in eating, sleeping, and school attendance.
