Hypothyroidism and Kent’s Twelve Observation

Virendra S. Jain, Dr.Ankita. Thete

Hypothyroidism is a common endocrine disorder often managed with hormone replacement therapy in conventional medicine. This case report presents a 29-year-old female with a history of facial and neck swelling, hyperpigmentation, hair fall, generalized weakness, and menstrual irregularities, who had been previously treated with Thyronorm. Mental-emotional symptoms, including exam-related fear and social withdrawal, were also prominent. The case was repertorized using RADAR 10.5, leading to the individualized prescription of Lycopodium 1M and Phytum 30. Over a period of six months, the patient demonstrated marked improvement in physical symptoms, mental well-being, and thyroid function tests, enabling gradual tapering and eventual discontinuation of Thyronorm. Follow-ups continue, with the patient maintained on placebo and TFTs showing normalization. This case highlights the potential role of individualized homoeopathic treatment in the long-term management of hypothyroidism, demonstrating safety, efficacy, and patient satisfaction, in alignment with Kent’s Twelve Observations.
